Why isn't there a built in record function for all the cameras?

It just seems silly to have so many cameras and no ability to turn it into a 360 dashcam / accident recorder exactly like all Teslas have . Ford could even sell it as an app if they wanted to be greedy about it. a Hidden Micro-SD slot in the glovebox would provide for the necessary storage if there isn't enough built in. Just seems like a lost opportunity to me.

It is, but I don't think you'll even see them add this. I wouldn't even expect to get something like the Tesla sentry mode where you can view the cameras from your phone.

I think that if Ford did do this they would just add it to a new model year and leave all previous owners out. There is no benefit for them to do it.

I'm not a huge Tesla fan and they have their issues, but one thing they have done is add features and given them to existing customers as long as their car had the hardware (i.e. sentry mode I believe was one of these additions).

I'm sure they will have something similar to Tesla's sentry mode and crash recorder on the all electric trucks and cars in the future. The battery drain on the ICE vehicles for sentry mode would put to much strain on the regular vehicle battery.

It is another subscription income stream they are missing out on. Who wouldn't want this as an option and make it app friendly as well. This potentially could also lower the cost of insurance.

Well, if it was a "subscription" to record locally and only locally, I would call foul. I'm not up for paying a subscription just to use a feature my hardware supports. Now I might consider paid subscription for online backup in real time, but I would want the option to only have local storage for free.

It's a sham that there are companies forcing people to pay for features that they have hardware for only so that the company can have a continued revenue stream. I could potentially see a need if the feature is actually constantly updated (and continues to be so for as long as I pay the subscription), but unless it has some technical dependency on an outside service or technology which justifies continued cost, I'm not cool just paying a subscription to access something I already own.

Gotcha. In that sense I would be ok with it, though I personally would not pay for it.

I would pay to continue having a connected truck and I would pay XX / mth for video cloud storage - if it meant that the truck was using its many built-in cameras as dashcams.
