Was just looking under my truck while swapping to winter tires and noticed this part. What is it? Why the grid shape, and shouldn't my FX4 skid plates cover it?

What is it? Why the grid shape .....

Yep, it's your transmission pan, and the molded "grid shape" is to provide adequate stiffness / rigidity (similar in concept to corrugations frequently seen on stamped sheet metal components).

I sold the FX4 skids for $80 after installing full RCI 1/4" aluminum skids. No the FX4 'skids' don't cover the plastic transmission pan. ?‍
