The thing is you can lift the seats up just a little with the locks and that could give good enough purchase with some tools to break the plastic bits. Then again, they'd have to really suspect something was under the seat.

I do. And for those up close and personal scenarios, the Ford safe works well too. :flag:

Just curious where you got that tray from? I have the Console Vault (without the Ford logo on it) and would love to have a tray like that for small stuff. Love my Console Vault by the way.
I bought the original tray from Amazon after seeing it advertised on this forum. That was 2.5 years ago. Since then, it looks like they've tweaked the design a bit.

Incidentally, if you want a light for your safe, this works great. Also works well for the glove box since they removed the light from MY 2022.

Like some of you, I lost my entire collection of firearms in a boating accident just before I bought my truck. Following this thread in case I ever decide to buy another gun but the loss was so tragic that it’s even hard to think about that right now. I am encouraged by the storage options you’re discussing though. Pay no attention to the member profile name...

I looked at the tray you listed and unfortunately it won't work on my 24 XLT. The one like yours would be perfect. Oh well, the search continues.

As for the light, I bought the one that Console Vault offers with the unit and it works pretty good. Magnetic mount where the lock turns and turns the light off.

Thanks for the response.

I had a Du-Ha bin. Came with rifle rack inserts. I say had because I just traded the F150 this week for a 2025 Ranger Lariat. Got too old (me, not the truck) and harder to park when I went into the city. Dang parking lot lines are too close.
I second the toooo damn small parking spot problem. Just changed from a Ranger to an F 150 Crew Cab…😵💫😁

Just for transportation I have a case for that. No way I would ever “store” a firearm in a vehicle. It’s trivial to break into and won’t get you any sympathy from law enforcement when you report them stolen. At least in my state firearms stolen from vehicles is the #1 way criminals get ahold of them.

Allowing unsecured weapons to be stolen from a vehicle is heavily frowned upon, and could get you more than a slap on the wrist in some States. It's not like the aforementioned "boating accident". So yeah, locked case is always my method of transport, and no weapon is ever left in my vehicles. Not to mention my ranges don't really approve of carrying unsecured rifles to and from you vehicle across parking lots or into indoor ranges.

I appreciate the replies.

I think it's one of the Tuffy's for me. trying to decide on which. The Dee Zee is supposedly a bit too sloppy and I don't like how the access requires space for the doors to be fully open.

How much space did you lose with the Ford safe? I’m thinking of getting one myself. I’m assuming it’s an easy install?

The safe is actually fairly deep. I can keep everything I want in there besides 2 handguns and ammo. Things such as a FOB, wallet, etc. The tray I bought that sits on top of the safe handles everything else. I had the dealer put the safe in as part of my build, so can't comment on install, but I would imagine it isn't difficult. It really is a great thing to have.

That’s great feedback. Thank you for the info and taking the time to reply. Much appreciated. I’ll be looking into getting one.

There are (if I remember correctly) 2 self-tapping bolts that hold the vault in place. There is one piece that is hinged to fold the front and back pieces up to fit the front and back of the console opening and the top sits on it and has two nuts on each end to secure the top piece to the base. Then the screws go in the sides to secure it in the console to keep it from moving around. You can't use the factory tray any longer, but you have almost the full inside of the console available to use. Even down to the USB port and the powerpoint inside the console. There is also a console light available for the lid from Console Vault that works pretty well. I'll have to look and see if I can find my install sheet to give you more details. Takes about 15-30 minutes to install and works real good.

Thank you for the install info That’s really helpful and sounds like an easy process.
