Hi, I'm new to the group but somehow I think we have a connection through the other transmission complaints I have seen.
I have a 2020 F-150 XLT, 3.5twin turbo 40k miles. Here is the list of issues so far.
The engine falling flat between 3rd and 4th gear.
Having a very spastic episodes if you woke it up in sport mode. Jesus Christ and cranberry sauce, like there is a maniac under the hood. Shift points off of the charts and would stay in that mode even after backing off the gas pedal.
Having a persistent clunking at low speed, a slow soft clunk, like pulling in the drive way, just crawling up the transition from the street to the curb. A soft clunk, clunk like the axles were shifting from side to side.
The dealer was nice enough to listen, like a bartender of sorts, shaking their heads, pour another drink and so on. Their answer to the clunking noise was to pressure wash the dirt of of the leaf springs, because that where clunks come from. When I finally approached them with the TBI articles from Ford, they took the transmission issue seriously and took it apart and replace a laundry list of components I felt like they were listening.
Now, the shifting is much better, very smooth. I started to relax then the vibration starts at 50mph through 85mph and as you get in this 70-85 mph area, when you back off the accelerator there is a noticeable buzzing, everytime you back off the fuel. Very strange.
Please share or commiserate if this makes any sense. If you need the TBI numbers or the dealers part list for the transmission repair let me know.
I really like the truck, it rides good, looks great... It's Ford for Christ sakes.

You have a 13th gen truck and this is a 14th gen forum.

I did have a 2020 before this truck and the rear differential was rebuilt near the end of my time with the truck due to driveline vibrations. They ended up replacing pinion and carrier bearings. Mine was an off-throttle vibration around 45 mph.

I'd bet the clunk you describe is leaf spring isolator pads. Easy to replace and relatively cheap.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
