I have a 21 f150 screw STX 4wd. I had the oem trailer brake module installed and programmed at my dealership. I occasionally pull a camper and have a question.

when I press the manual brake button it shows output on my screen and I clearly feel them engage.

When I press my brake pedal when the trailers attached tho - it shows nothing on my screen. No output and I’m not entirely sure I’m getting brakes but it could be that I just don’t know any better and don’t get that drastic stop you get from the manual push of the brake module.

so I guess my overall question is should I be seeing the trailer brake output showing when I press my trucks brakes while the trailer is hooked up?

The display only shows the brake gain when you manually use the switches. Normal brake use doesn’t activate the display. If you set up the gain correctly you won’t feel them “grab”. It should be the same smooth feel you get when braking without the trailer. Try increasing the gain until you feel the trailer pulling the truck to a stop. Then back the gain off one number and you should be good. You will need to tweak it occasionally based on trailer weight and road conditions, but this will get you close.
