2022 Lariat PowerBoost w/max tow, 360 cameras.
I want to install a trailer camera for my travel trailer. Ford dealer finally found a part number ML3Z1A189BE for $1185, this also comes with the TPMS system for the trailer tires, URL below. There are no specs on the Ford accessories site like wiring system, resolution , angle of view and so on, but the site does say it is an exact fit, also item is non-returnable. 3rd party suppliers are cheaper but some say this will not fit my truck, some do. Ford OEM parts supplier says it will not fit.
Also, other F150 forums dealing with trailer cameras say there are 2 wiring systems, 2 wire & 8 wire. I have the 12 pin connecter but the 2 wire system.

Question is has anyone installed one of these Ford camera systems? does it fit the '22 PB with 2 wire system? How does the TPMS interface with the truck? Are there better alternatives?

  1. Yes, many are using this system. In the definitive mega-thread on the topic, here's my concluding post, with links to previous posts, describing install on the 2022 Lariat described in my signature block below.
  2. You'll need to replace your truck's rear harness as I did to fully-populate your 2-wire connector to 9-wires. See the linked post / thread for more info.
  3. The TPMS interfaces via the 12-pin (9-wire) connector, then displays info and warnings on your IPC. Again, see the link above for pics.
  4. Some have rigged their own analog cam for rear view display on the dash; I'm not aware of any integrated TPMS alternative.
  5. IMO the fully-integrated Ford accessory TPMS + cam is the best thing going, TPMS is outstanding and the cam resolution / view is quite sufficient for monitoring following traffic and backing in constricted spaces (who needs to read license plates??). I love it. YMMV.
If you have further questions, please post in the mega-thread linked above. :)

Thanks much... I'll have a look at the post. But why didn't ford put in the required harness to begin with? Are the 2 wires good for anything on their own?

That is a mystery I can't answer; some got it, some didn't.

Backup assist yaw sensor module which has now largely been replaced with the sticker system.

My truck came with the stickers - finally went to a deserted parking lot and calibrated it. With some practice it could make backing up easier, kind of why I want the camera.

Well as others have said there is a huge thread on this topic. But I just googled that part and your dealership is charging you more than what you could purchase that kit for online. My truck has the two wires harness and after looking at the cost to replace the harness and get this kit. I got a tpms and wireless camera for my trailer off Amazon. $300 total.

Thanks... I have seen the camera kit for less at some other retailers, but they say this won't fit my truck. I wonder if that is because I have the wrong harness.
I looked at the site you included and they say that part number will not fit my truck, it does say it is for 2025 F150.
There is a LC3Z1A189BH that is for the 2023-2025 years as well, nothing for the 2022 year. This is so confusing as Ford says the BE is an exact fit...
What kit did you got off Amazon?

My trailer came with a TPMS kit on it and it has a remote monitor unit and I got an aftermarket wireless camera for my travel trailer (see below link). I think the Ford part number is off a F250. If you look at the main thread you will see how screwed up Fords kit is. One year it is an option for F150s the next it isn't. My truck only has the two wires harness, so I would have to get the F250 wiring harness because I have 6 sensor on the bumper and replace it. Then the FORD kit is a wired camera and I would have route the wire somehow. My trailer came with a pre-wired camera mount (power). Here is the camera I got. It just wasn't worth my time and money. I would love to use the AUX option on my 12" screen but having a separate monitor is really nice while I'm driving.

Just FYI, all of the Ford trailer kits for TPMS and/or cam and/or yaw sensor are identical as of this date. The 12-pin (9-wire) connector has the same pins and pin functions / assignments for all Gen 14 F150 and all F250 since at least 2017.

Just saying that all of the, for example, kits with TPMS+cam, have the same content and functionality and work with any truck having the fully-populated 12-pin (9-wire) harness on the truck and having 360-cam as OE and the proper IPC/APIM updates. A trailer having the accessory TPMS + cam will work just fine when towed by any properly equipped Ford truck up to this date.

So, why are there so many different PNs for kits having the same items? Just marketing BS and a way to charge more for some truck owners.

FWIW the kit I bought and use was PN LC3Z1A189A and labeled "Super Duty 2017-2022 Trailer Sensor Kit With Pro Trailer Backup Assist". It has TPMS+Cam, no yaw sensor module (I didn't want it), and functions perfectly with my 2022 F150 including tire temperature as well as pressure display. The cost from Accessories.Ford.com was $660 +$9.95 3-day FedEx delivery + $45.22 Texas sales tax on 6/13/2022.
________

Insofar as the truck harness if you don't have a fully-populated 12-pin (9-wire) connector, there are different PNs for exact-match depending on exhaust configuration (single / dual) and bumper-mounted proximity sensors.

But the basic wiring and functionality is again, the same.

For example, my truck is singe exhaust with 4 proximity sensors. I bought the replacement harness for a dual exhaust / 6-sensor bumper (ML3Z-13A576-TFA) because it was immediately available and the lowest price at the time. I installed it just fine without using the two outermost proximity sensor connectors, and after proving all worked as intended just clipped those off and insulated the ends.
