Apparently ford says not to use tire chains on f-150's I cant believe there would be a pickup truck that cant use tire chains. Is this just ford trying to protect them self from damage? Has anyone used tire chains anyway?

The issue is larger tires and wheels on late model pickups reducing the clearance for the chains. Especially on the sides when turning and suspension compression.

I have run Rud-Grip 4x4 2532 chains which are designed for more limited clearance. But I didn't go fast or far. I think Ford is protecting itself by stating you can't use chains. Get slim ones or the cable variety and be careful.

Here is what Rud thinks the 2532s will fit on:

I think heavier duty chains may be more effective... but if they are banging your truck that is a problem as well.

Haven’t tried chains, AutoSocks work well and are a lot easier to put on/take off.
Our neighborhood has a really steep hill that even 4x4 isn’t enough to get up.
