So I just traded my 22 3.5 for a 22 2.7 because my 3.5 had the high gear shudder that the dealer couldn't fix. the 3.5 felt like it was going over a rumble strip in the high gears. So having said that I got a 2.7 and it is LOADS smoother and better than the 3.5 was BUT it still has a very slight vibration in the high gears. Its not like a shudder or a wheel out of balance or anything more so it feels like the engine is just lugging and it gives a slight vibration through the pedal and I can hear it. Its not something terrible but its enough that it bothers me some. Is there an easy fix for this? I am going to tune the truck so that may fix the issue but that will be a month or two away. Any tips?

What were the symptoms you were experiencing? It’s hard to describe what I fell but it’s almost like a grinding feeling. It only does it in the high gears when it’s under 1500rpm and I’m on the gas, if I let off the gas it doesn’t do it coasting.

That’s how mine started but over a few weeks the whole ride quality deteriorated and now I have a very fine vibration in the steering wheel, dead pedal / floorboard, and gas pedal. It’s really agitating and kind of ruined a road trip. I’ve rebalanced / replaced the tires twice.

I don’t know if the grinding in the pedal is separate from or part of the overall vibration I’m now feeling.

Never had anything under load, always at cruising speeds 1500ish rpm 68-75mph was the worst but felt it all the time. Either through the steering wheel or the seat, my water bottle in the cup holder looked like we were having an earthquake, never through the gas petal. nothing in the first 6 dealer attempts fixed anything, it would just move the "sweet spot" of the vibration. I actually used @richardrocks grinding description with the engineer although I didnt really think it was grinding just the best description of the feeling as I could give. Here is my post from the other thread.

To all of my fellow vibrating friends,
4 months, 7 dealer visits, a BBB complaint (this is really the only thing that worked), over 30 days at the dealer but i think the vibration issue has finally been solved. Here is a breakdown of what went down, hopefully some off you will be able to force your dealer into doing the same and stop your shakes. I was always steering wheel and drivers seat, never felt anything of consequence through the gas petal.

Tires road force balanced and rotated - no effect
All 4 tires replaced (20" Pirelli's) - no effect
Complete removal of rear end and inspect nothing found - no effect
Replace drive shaft - no effect
Some computer stuff to transmission that I wont pretend I understand - no effect
All 4 tires replaced again (20" Pirelli's) - no effect
Tires road force balanced and rotated for the 37th time - no effect
All 4 tires replaced again (20" Pirelli's) - no effect
I'm sure there were several other things done that I don't remember - no effect
Opened a BBB complaint, Ford sent an engineer to dealer
Front differential replaced - Picked her up this morning, Viola! she drives like a Mercedes!

Only put roughly 50 miles in but they felt like I was actually driving the $75k truck that I paid for. I will update if anything does not hold.
