I heard some people who own goose neck trailers like the [automatic fully-powered] up/down function when hooking up the trailer.
Likely not common but ^that's^ my situation, towing the 5th-wheel RV linked in my signature block below. Just to clarify, there's nothing "automatic" about it but it is fully-powered up/down upon command from keyfob, dashboard-button, or tailgate-button.

Because of clearance issues my tailgate must be open to back far enough to get the trailer's pinbox into the bed, then raised to back to the final hitch position (and vice-versa when un-hitching). Being able to do that from the driver's seat and using the bed-cam to guide is a huge step-saver for this solo traveller, I'm loving the convenience of it all (including the step at other times).

I've not had any 'fires' in my truck bed so speed isn't an issue for me (;)); nor have I noticed any untoward noise associated with tailgate operation.

Yes, the full-power version doubtless adds weight, but my Lariat 500A equipped as described in my sig-block has a payload sticker rating of 1848# which works for me, the convenience far outweighs (;)) whatever the payload penalty.

I do think the tailgate step with bed light should be a stand-alone option across-the-board as it was on Gen 13's; force-bundling the step & light with the full-powered tailgate to reduce configuration complexity is a 'compromise' that makes some sense to me.

But, as always, everyone has different wants and needs, no worries!
