This info just appeared in my feed yesterday, but it was from ford authority. Even though it was dated online a few days ago, I didn't recall seeing anything posted here. I couldn't find it referenced when searching for 22S15. I tried to post the ford authority story a few times, but kept getting 500 errors and it wouldn't create the post. Searched online for additional reports and found it hit the rounds a couple days ago on multiple sites. I was able to post it here from consumer reports. Not sure why I couldn't make the thread with the original story.

Ford is recalling certain 2021 F-150 pickup trucks because their transmissions may unexpectedly shift into neutral while in motion, which could cause a crash. Over 47,000 pickup trucks from the 2021 model year are included in the recall

The problem is due to an error in the transmission’s software. If this problem occurs, owners may notice a loss of vehicle power and a wrench symbol illuminated on the dashboard near the speedometer. Once the vehicle is stopped, it may automatically go into Park. Ford says that turning the ignition off and on will reset the vehicle immediately.

According to documents Ford provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been 28 warranty claims, one customer complaint to the automaker, and one complaint to NHTSA related to this issue. There have been no related crashes or injuries.

Only vehicles with 3.5L, 2.7L and 5.0L engines that are not equipped with Auto Start-Stop technology are included in the recall. All the recalled trucks have a transmission with the internal code of 10R80.

Vehicles recalled: Some 2021 Ford F-150 pickup trucks built between July 28, 2021, and Dec. 20, 2021.

The problem: Because of a problem with the transmission software, the vehicle may erroneously sense that the transmission fluid pressure is too low and shift into Neutral. If a problem actually existed with the transmission fluid pressure, this sequence of events would protect the transmission from damage and give the driver time to pull over.

The fix: Ford dealerships will update the transmission software, free of charge.

How to contact the manufacturer: Ford will contact owners of affected vehicles by mail starting May 2, 2022. Owners may also contact Ford at 866-436-7332.

NHTSA campaign number: 22V188. Ford’s own number for this recall is 22S15.

Check to see whether your vehicle has an open recall: NHTSA’s website will tell you whether your vehicle has any open recalls that need to be addressed.

I wonder what the removal of auto stop / start has to do with this?

It is a quick software fix...I was in and out of the dealer in 20 minutes.

PURE CONJECTURE: My bet is it has something to do with the auto/start stop feature relying on that supplemental electric line pressure pump.* Either the 10R80 requires different software when auto start/stop is omitted or it requires a specific routine in shared software, and whatever it relies on there had an error related to line pressure.

*For those unfamiliar, one of the equipment changes originally made to implement auto start/stop is a supplemental electric pump to keep up transmission line pressure while the engine is off.

So I just received this update via Ford Power-up update and I have a 2.7 WITH auto start-stop on my vehicle. I also want to note that I never received any notice of this update prior to this morning before it updated

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
I have not stop start on my vehicle. I did have two prior software updates done in March when Ford issued a stop sale on affected vehicles. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2022/RCMN-22V188-3445.pdf
Its possible that the update wasn't available when I had my truck serviced. Regardless there is no notice on Fordpass for it.
