So I know everyone that installed an exhaust on these new gens says they can tell when cylinder deactivation happens. I have a question I don't do a bunch of freeway driving so around town I can never tell, I never even get the muffled interior noise. However when I get on it on the freeway and get up to about 75 there is a sound like a rattle but I look everywhere on the exhaust and it doesn't rattle by hand. Anyone with an exhaust have this issue is it cylinder deactivation? If not I think it might be a hanger mount issue.

CD doesn't activate in Sport Mode. Get to 75 again in sport mode again and see if it rattles again. I got the tune so fast after I heard the CD on my Borla ATAK. While waiting for the tuner for about a week, I exclusively drove in sport mode to never hear that mess again. So I don't remember if I heard a rattle when it kicked on, but I can't imagine mistaking the tone for anything else if you have a loud enough catback.

Be sure those exhaust clamps are as tight as they're supposed to be. You checked for leaks after installing the exhaust?

My experience is that you can tell when it kicks in but it surprisingly doesn’t bother me, but mine is more of a bellow sound when CD kicks in and out.
I’m running only a vibrant ultra quiet resonator no muffler so that might be why!

Now that it's heat cycled a few times I actually don't hear it anymore. Hopefully it was a "break in". Either that or my music is too loud anyways. But it is weird I don't get that bellow of muffled noise when cd kicks in. It just goes quiet. Pump the throttle and its the v8 sound we love so dearly. Coming from the eco 3.5 I can't say how much I couldn't wait to do an exhaust on this truck. Although I do miss my turbo noises. Lol.
