Remove front lower air deflector

I’m trying to remove and replace the front lower air deflector that sits in front of the air dam but I’m having trouble removing it especially the retainer pins in the middle. Any suggestions?

All I can suggest is the link below. I have been thinking of removing the air dam and trimming the piece you are talking about but haven't made up my mind yet.
