Recently I installed the ReadyAir airbag helper springs by ReadyLift. I also needed the height sensor relocation kit that they mention is needed for CCD but is actually needed for headlights as well.

Install was great, overall. With a 6" lift there was no need to lift the truck or take the wheels off, a welcomed change. The height sensor relocation kit is nearly junk, strangely; it wasn't engineered well and ends up smashing the connector as well as aiming the headlights high. I'll deal with it later. The air springs don't list a max PSI anywhere in what they send you (I have googled it to 150psi) but does mention 10psi is the minimum.

At 40psi it's added ~1.5" of lift to the rear of the truck unloaded, and back to stock height (for my truck) with ~650lbs of tongue weight. My truck doesn't have an actual tow package (though Ford did a flawless job of hiding this fact with all the towing stuff that it did come with) and was sagging 3-4" on the 3800# rear GAWR leaf springs. This wasn't readily apparent on my truck due to the lift. Unloaded the ride is rough and fairly unsettling. 60psi is a bit too much when towing; induces a bit of porpoising and is somewhat rough riding, though it handles better. I may deal with the rough ride and run higher PSI.

Towing ~5200# with the air springs at 40psi (and with a Weigh Safe True Tow Middleweight weight distribution hitch set at 1600# distributed tongue weight) is quite pleasurable, all things considered. Previously, the trailer would bully the truck a bit; inadvertent lane changes occurred infrequently at speed. The occasional white-knuckled "10 & 2" found when battling major interstates is gone. You could be forgiven for forgetting the trailer is back there under 60mph. Truck-suck was insignificantly reduced. I did not suffer from sway to begin with. Windy conditions are currently unknown. I do not know whether the WDH or the air springs had the greater impact but between the two I would consider the change radical. I suspect a lot of the "I wouldn't tow with an F150" experiences wouldn't exist with the aforementioned solutions.

I found the easiest place to install the inlet valves was right through the license plate bolts. Probably should have done the lower holes in retrospect.

What I would consider the worst case scenario of extra load, F rated (12 ply) 35" LT tires at 57psi and air springs at 40psi, the unladen truck does ride rough, but its not ridiculous. Smooth highway is fine really but rough roads are jarring. I'm far from stock suspension at this point but it happened incrementally; maybe riding in a stock F150 would be illuminating but I don't find my current result intolerable.

Don't be surprised once you load up your truck and trailer that to keep the trailer level you need to adjust the height of the tow ball.

I am hopeful that I can use the airbags for that adjustment but I did buy 6" worth of drop hitch from Weigh Safe so I could redo it all at a lower adjustment.

I also have the readylift system, it’s miles better than the airlift options (I previously had both airlift 5000 bags, with and without the internal bumper). Either way the ride unloaded is rough with stock CCD settings. If you play with forscan to change the CCD settings it becomes a very comfortable and capable driving experience.

Are the airbags needed with the weight distribution hitch? I was under the impression it was one or the other. Curious as I'm looking at some Pause Reboot trailers that will likely come in over 7k once loaded.

No. They firm up the rear end and help with sagging. I added after market 3rd leafs to lift and prevent sagging. In my opinion when towing you don't want a soft suspension. My trucks became so much more comfortable when towing after firming up the back. My local shop believes F-150's come off the line for a comfortable ride not necessarily comfortable while towing. As long as you are within the ratings of the truck it's personal preference.

My first truck had airbags and I didn't like the feel because they are attached. I have used timbren. If your happy with your leaf set up Timbrens are my recommendation. With my current setup I just installed extensions for my bump stops.

I run a weigh safe to. Takes away guess work with varying loads. Unloaded it all looked great. But loaded changed way it "sat" so I adjusted the hitch on the fly..... So much better.

Yeah I think I will actually have to adjust; almost like the air springs have "settled", as I'm already riding lower in the rear and I haven't even fully loaded yet.

I just installed these this weekend as well for my adventure slide-in. I'll probably be upgrading to their management setup soon.

Because they are my homies and ex-employers, I would like to call out that these are not made by the team at ReadyLift, but by Logiq. This is the team that was behind AccuAir before it was sold to Arnott Ind. They have some great things in the pipeline!

Hey does the adjustment screw on the head of the weigh safe turn infinitely, or does it have fully extended and retracted positions?

I haven't had to explore the ends of the threads of that bolt. So I don't know. But I would assumed that it has a max movement in both directions.

I just installed air bags to prevent sagging when I'm carrying a payload, which started happening after I lifted the front 2.5" via spacers. I almost never tow anything but every so often I will have a heavy load in back. When unloaded, the ride now is super stiff, which I expected for obvious reasons. On rough roads its very uncomfortable and it feels like I'm really hammering the truck.

I only have a rudimentary understanding of suspension components and the role that they play. I'm wondering if upgrading to better shocks would help with this problem? Or, maybe the bags weren't the right solution in my case? I have them completely deflated, which works. But anything over a few PSI (which I need with even a mild/moderate load in back) is not great.

I will say that they have solved the problem in that I can avoid any sag when loaded. So, they are doing their job.
