Anyone have pics of procedure plastidip wheels. Can I do it with tires on. Does it hold up and is it really that easy to peel off later. I bought an expedition and the wheels are horrible like a bright silver color does not match vehicle at all. I'd actually consider powder coat but closest place to do that is like 3-4 hours away

I've done multiple sets of wheels and even a few cars in peelable paint. Depending on how far you go, it can be extremely durable.

If you just want a color change and matte or satin finish is okay, then plastidip is fine. Check out dipyourcar on youtube, he has thousands of videos showing you how to do it.

If you want something extra durable, or want glossy, then check out a product called Halo EFX. it is a similar product, but it can be clear coated, which makes it glossy and much more durable. The white on my 2-tone truck is done in Halo EFX with 3 coats of cheap clear over the top, it's both glossy and much more durable and the cars I did in plastidip.

Either product will peel off easily if you get enough material on the wheels. Aim for a minimum of 7 coats. If you get the material on too thin, it will shred when you try to peel it off, and you will spend hours with xylene disolving it and washing everything. I got it too thin on the hood of my Jaguar XK when I dipped it and that was a nightmare to get off.

The truck is HALO EFX + Clear, the car is Plastidip

Dang so you did the whole car and the 2tone on truck with it. That looks pretty dang good in the pics.
I'd prolly want gloss black on the wheels so the halo efx + clear would be what I need ?
I'm about to look up the halo efx what clear coat do I use. Does halo efx have clear or I use a different product .
Sorry for so many questions I'm new to this. Lol

Plastidip is more difficult to get off the longer it stays on the car, trim, wheels. I don't think it will hold up that well on wheels due the heat cycles, road grime, curb bumps, etc. It's not that durable.

I've used it quite a bit myself, though not NEARLY as much (or as well) as @Ajzride has (truck looks sick with that color scheme!). But the rattle can dip isn't that great, tbh.

The stuff in the can will hold up fine if you order some dipCoat from DYC And get 7-10 coats of base and 3-5 coats of topcoat. It just won’t be glossy.

If you plasti-dip the wheels, drop a quarter in each of the lug nut wells to prevent it getting on the lug nut bearing surface (y)
