Back in my PowerStroke days I had several analog Autometer gauges watching temperatures and boost levels. The A-Pillar gauge pod was cool and I had a couple built in on each side of the steering column too. Fast forward and today we have apps like OBD Fusion, FORScan Lite for our handheld devices that connect via Bluetooth to a OBD scanner and presents that vital data on a screen.
I primarily use OBD Fusion on my iPhone to keep track of various temperatures. I have multiple dash boards with dozens of gauges and it works. The problem is where to mount the device so it's not in the way, but is still visible, not wiggling/shaking on a mount, leaving suction cup rings on the windshield, you get the picture. Meanwhile, we have a large screen built into the dash sitting right there
Well, OBD Fusion recently added CarPlay support to their app! You simply connect the app to the OBD Bluetooth scanner (like OBDLink MX+), find the OBD Fusion app in CarPlay and open it. You can setup the PIDs you want to monitor in the app on the device just like you would for the dash boards.
That said, like crawling before walking or "green text" before GUIs, the output is text based. They don't have graphical gauges right now, but it's a first step.
There is another thread that I ran across where a member discovered the same. I linked it here: OBD Fusion now had CarPlay support!
