What specific issues are you trying to fix by installing an aftermarket valve body?

put a kit similar on my 05, tranny went out 3 months later. I think if it was a valve body issue they would have found it out by now. Believe it or not a ton of research has been done on these. I have a 21 since new, no issues at all.

some random clunks but mostly its on the upshift where it shifts to the next gear but then shudders a few times. Started out when shifting from 3-4 (Every single time) now its several gears. Also, when slow rolling off a stop and I punch it falls on its face and shifts to 3rd.

I put the separator plate kit into my transmission 2 weeks ago and the truck hasn't moved since. Apparently they don't have the correct parts for my truck and sent me something wrong. Not knowing they were wrong, I installed them and my transmission wouldn't come out of park. I have since ordered a whole new valve body from Suncoast and couldn't be happier with the customer service I have received. I will update once I have it installed this weekend.

Mustang guys really like the combo of the Ratiotek "shift kit" and Sonnax stabilizer clips/inserts.

You have a 21 XL just like me. Did you choose the mechanical or electronic shifter when you ordered the kit?

Suncoast valve body is in, and the truck was able to go into gear. Shifting is firm, but smooth and I have no issues. I'm not going to bash Nextgen, but they did not send me the correct parts nor did it appear they would have the correct parts anytime soon so buyer beware.

Has your PCM been updated to the most current calibrations? I’ve had 2 so far on my 2024 and the shifting has improved every time.

Following.

Had my 24 at the dealer this week to look into similar issues as OP. They performed the latest PCM update, a force break in procedure on the transmission, and cleared the shift tables. So far still a clunky POS. Love everything about this truck but this transmission is killing me.

It has to be something in the tune(TCM) and not just the valve bodies. My 24 with a Whipple has been sweet for the whole 24K miles and the 1 year and 3 months I have had the truck. Whipple install includes an updated trans tune. No weird shifting habits or shuttering etc. I would think a new trans tune might help a lot of you with your issues. Maybe a phone call to Lund or one of the other tuners and ask then what they think? They see these trans all day long-

I don't think anyone believes it is always the valvebody at fault with these 10r80's. Afterall, the CDF drum and faulty torque converters have been obvious issues too.
But the valvebody is built with some concerning co$t saving components that deserve the scepticism it has earned.

Having said that, I absolutely agree that a good tuner can much improve the performance of the 10r80. And in some cases outright dramatically.

When I used to get shifting complaints they nearly always wound up being operator "error" if there was nothing physically wrong with the transmission and the relearn was successful. Left foot braking, using the accelerator as an on/off switch, etc were common themes.

There is function to disable adaptation for a drive cycle that can help determine if it's an issue being learned from how it's driven vs the factory strategy.
