My Rear Window Got Smashed. Do I have Privacy Glass?

Thanks. I've got a $500 deductible, so I'll likely be paying out of pocket anyways.

Is the dealer really worth it? See plenty of good Yelp reviews for auto glass places in my area. Yelp reviews are suspect, but I can't imagine a dealership being necessarily better.

I would also check if the side windows have "sound deading" material like the windshield does also

After calling a couple of auto glass shops and getting quotes for OEM replacements I was a little wary about how quickly they all said they could get the glass given all the supply chain issues. I was concerned I might be getting scammed and they'd put in some aftermarket glass anyways.

Called a two Ford dealers and both told me they didn't do glass replacements themselves and both outsourced to the same auto glass company. I called them, they came out to my place within a few hours, and got the window replaced.

I didn't know this, but apparently while most auto brands are exclusive suppliers for OEM glass, Ford and Dodge make their glass available to third parties. Carlite for Ford and Mopar for Dodge. So it's pretty easy to find replacements despite the supply crunch. So maybe my concern about getting scammed was unfounded, but it's been fixed with relatively little hassle.

Look into 3M security film. I had this installed on my 2021 Expedition (which I sold because of towing issues). I have it scheduled for my 2021 F150 Prius Edition. The cost for each vehicle is about $350.00

On the back and side windows with factory tint, they install clear tint. On the two front windows, they install a tinted version. Their colors are not an exact match, but good enough.

In the Expedition we noticed how much cooler it was when sitting in the sun.

I am amazed seeing the "peaceful protest" and the "Unrequested inventory depletion" videos and these stores do not have this film installed.

So if your in a crash trapped in the truck and you need to break the glass to save your life ? Can first responders get threw this ?

As a former LEO then turned to FF/EMS, I did have this thought. Even a basic hand tool like the HALLIGAN FORCIBLE ENTRY would work.

It’s food for thought that’s is all I am saying
a passer by can easily smash glass and save you
or most carry a glass breaker so they can get themselves out in a quick manor seconds count as you are well aware !
