Correction to my first post. The Defender 2 is a car tire. The LTX M/S 2 is for trucks.

New tires will be in the future and I am leaning towards the Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 in 275/55/20. Are there any other tires which are in the competition? I don't off road and want a street tire which also has good snow performance. I had AT tires in the past but want something more street oriented.

I just had a set of LTX M/S 2's - 265/70R18's - installed a few weeks ago. I don't have many miles on the yet, but so far, they seem great for highway and city use. i fell you will not be sorry you got them.

I have winter tires on old rims I use in the winter, so that part I will not know.

I went with these in 275/60/20... Continental TerrainContact A/T I don't need the 3 snowflake rating, but reviewer research says they are very good in all conditions, including snow. I did take a road trip for a week to Ruidoso, NM in Feb. and hit 3-6" snow conditions and patchy ice . The truck drove normal for me, no issues with traction, braking, steering, etc. I didn't even think about the tires actually, I just drove normal with caution as any one would.

I hope this helps.

I'm likely swapping out the tires that come on my soon-to-be built Lariat when I get it, so I've been doing some research myself.

That Conti is a good tire, but I'm not sure I want an AT tire on this one. I'd be more interested in the TerrainContact H/T. But both of them come highly recommended.

If I go Michellins, I'm going Defender LTX M/S2. Bit pricey but has really good user reviews overall.

On my last F150 (2011 EB FX4) I ran Firestone Destinations and they rode really well, good in the rain, etc, but wore down quick. Then again, I did a lot of towing.

The Bridgestone Duelers used to be a great tire but the reviews on these haven't been great lately...not for the price they want.

How do they fare with loss of mpg? I'm looking at tires and fine want to kill mpg as much as possible.

I like the BFG trail terrain but have no experience with them.

Hey, I noticed no difference in MPG. IIRC they weighed about the same as my OEM tires, acceleration, cornering, braking, etc. I noticed no differences…

I had a set before the Conti’s actually. The set I had didn’t have rim protection. My wheels looked odd, they sat on the surface of the tire and stuck out, looked funny. I thought maybe the tire was mounted wrong, but Discount checked and nope that’s how my wheels mount. Discount swapped them out and we landed on the Conti’s…

I just bought a set of Bridgestone Dueler LX tires from @Discount Tire in factory size 275/60R20 and could not be happier with them. They come highly rated by my local Discount Tire store and according to them they are better than the Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 tires and I will add that they sell them both.

Those Michelin's are great. Had two sets on my last truck (GMC). First set lasted over 90K mi. Bought the Ford and dumped the GMC. When these factory Michelins wear out I will be definitely be getting the Defender LTX M/S 2s again. Get the 10 ply E1 rated ones, seems like a better, tougher tire. You can run 40/45 psi for regular use and air them up when carrying a load. They take up to 80psi, but I ran them around 60 when hauling stuff and it worked well.

When I am shopping for new tires I go to the online stores like America's Tire Store and use their filters to get close to what I am seeking and then the reviews let me know what problems customers have had with a specific tire. Much faster and much more reliable process so long as one has an internet connection.

Clearly... they wanted to sell you other tires and not the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 that day.

The Defender LTX M/S2 do not come in 275/60/20 (regular load) or 275/65/20 (LRE) yet.
