I found one of these bits of metal directly under the wiper where it attaches to the gear. I hope they arent important!

Don't throw them out! I forgot what they were for but saw a whole topic on these and they go inside the wipers somehow

They are key ways that go in where the wiper arm attaches to the drive gear I think.

⬆ ? @Roady is right! I got this thread started back in May. They are spacers for the windshield wiper arms.

I’ve got some hi-def photos over there showing you how they fit in.
