5' tall wife had no problem climbing in my 2019 platinum with power running boards
Just picked up my new 2022 platinum with power running boards and the wife has major problems climbing in, feels like running boards are 3-6" higher
Any help on how to lower the height

Oh Yes, they are definitely higher. I too had a ‘19 King Ranch, and the power boards were much lower when they deployed, than my new ‘22 Platinum.

You’d probably have to get new/longer hinges/brackets, and I’d imagine that could become costly to modify.

i am not laughing, but my wife is just 5' tall as well
she had a very hard time getting into my 21 f250..so because i love my wife i sold it and got a 22 kr 4x4. i thought it was much lower than the 16 exp and the 250.
she still grabs THE OH CHIT BAR to get in.
i have seen folks put super duty fixed boards on to gain a bit of a lower step up. but i dont think you can make the power boards go any lower.

I looked into this a little when I first ordered the truck. My knees are problems and I did not know how much higher a full size F-150 would be over my 2009 Tacoma. I do not want a running board that only gives me a couple inches of lowered step. That is actually why I ordered the power running boards so I can get them to go down a little lower to help me up.

With that said I did find companies that make (what looks like) wonderful power running boards and they also have an extra 3 inch extension (maybe even more). They look like they were made for people that lift their trucks and need extra lift but they should work for anyone. Especially short people, small children or people with bum knees.

Sadly it may require you to replace what you already have as the extension lift looked like it was built in and not something you can add. The good news is that these 3rd party manufacturers seem to use 4 motors were Ford only uses 2. Also you will already have a lot of the electronics for the power step so that might be a big help with installation.

Good luck with your research and let us know what you decide to do.

I am actually looking at adding 15-20 power boards to my XLT. I just measured a friends 2019 F150 Platinum and it was 12.5” from the top of the plastic sill plate to the surface of the running board.

i thought i read somewhere that the super duty running boards will bolt up and work on a F150. and that the do extend lower due to the super duty being higher to begin with.
