It's been 4 years, 11 months, and 1 week since I applied seven coats of Halo EFX and three coats of Finish-1 clear coat as a paint protection product on the truck. I have driven almost exactly 100K miles in that time. I pulled the PPF off this week, and the paint underneath looks factory new. The only regret I have is not doing the whole truck last time. I only did it from the fender line down because I was worried about rock chips. But now it is obvious where the PPF was because the upper 1/3 of the truck is faded and has some swirl marks showing. It would have actually been easier to do the whole truck the first time because the one issue I had when doing it was removing the masking tape at the top of the 2-tone line after the clear dried. If I had done the upper third in clear PPF like the bottom third, that line would have been unmasked wet and given me no issues. I plan to do the whole truck in a new color in mid-October.

Putting the PPF on took two solid days. The first day was all prep (masking and cleaning) and the second day was all painting. Cost in materials was about $500.

Taking it off took about 5 hours, but I could do it in 3 knowing what I know now.

I think doing it a second time will only take a day, I learned a lot last time I did it.
