King Ranch gear shift powertrain warranty

I have a 2023 King Ranch with fold down gear shift. Truck has been setting codes Powertrain Malfunction/Reduction in power. It will not fold down and sometimes in park it chatters unless you prop something up against it. Dealer scanned and said gear shift module bad $950. 59K miles and he said powertrain warranty does not cover it. Truck is one and a half years old. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I swear, it looks like everyone's gear shift module decided to break this month (even a few in the 24-25 F150 Facebook group). I haven't pinned down the exact PN to order my replacement but it looks like a 300 dollar part? Mine started acting up last week, too.

Pull the decorative metal-style side trim pieces away from center console from along back edge where they meet the console lid. It might not be necessary to remove entirely, try to keep them attached at the front edge. With the console lid open, you can pull the rear edge of the trim piece that covers the cupholders and surrounds the shifter. It should be a few torx to remove the shifter. I've seen some say the new one does not require reprogramming.

There is another thread on the forum about replacing the shifter with the rotary dial shifter from the Expedition or Mach E if you don't want this to ever happen again.
