Just picked up my '21 XLT PB and noticed it always had an "underbite" from the lower front air dam getting caught up on the active rear one... at first I didn't realize it was "active" and spent a few times correcting the position, only to find it moved again after my next drive (duh)....

I have a small crease in both the front and active air dam, and I feel this is enough to cause the hang up...Has anyone had to "straighten" both of these out before? Were you able to do it with just a heat gun?

I would like to keep this feature if I could. For now, I have just unscrewed the active air dam from their motors.

If the truck is still under warranty, get Ford to fix it. There was a thread on this about a year or so ago. If I remember correctly, some members put spacers on the active dam to give it a little more clearance.

I had mine fixed under warranty back in March, and it's been issue-free since then. They replaced the entire moving part with an updated one.

Nice! Is there a noticeable difference in design? Trying to know to tell the difference in case mine already has it (was purchased used)

I think there's a pic of it in the older thread, but I think they made the inner lip taller, so it can't get hooked on the outer one.

How are you guys actually getting your dealers to do warranty work? I've taken my truck to two different dealers for warranty issues, including active air dam, and they basically tell me to go pound sand.

The air dam is the only warranty work I've had (outside of the insulation recall), and it went pretty easy. It was jammed up when I brought it in, so they could see it, and I also mentioned all the issues posted on this forum so they took care of it right away. I would have been pretty upset if they blew me off.

My Ford dealer told me that since this was not an active Recall, I would be charged a Diagnostic fee as well as parts + labor. I have a 72 month bumper to bumper extended warranty that was purchased.

It's still a warranty issue (assuming you're still under warranty). My dealer mentioned the diagnostic fee as well, but that gets zeroed out when they determine it's a warranty claim. With all the issues posted online, I don't know how they can deny it, unless they try to say you hit something.

It makes no sense for a customer who owns a brand new <> 1 year old vehicle to be treated like that.
Almost any professional with any knowledge of the product would be aware of the issues that crop up with some frequency.

The airdam overextending isn't unheard of on the 2021. And the vehicle IS warranted bumper to bumper. Just fix the product and do your job? Literally.

I'm a huge Ford fan. I admit it. But the deterioration of customer service is really disappointing.

Bruce,
You and I know that it reflects poorly on the brand, but is definitely reflective on the franchise model that manufacturers have. I’m loathe to take my truck to my local dealer for my ‘failure to activate FordPass issue’ only because experience tells me that they’ll use the ‘you didn’t buy it from US’ routine. It effin sucks.
