Help Comparing .ab files with As-Built Explorer

I have been using the As-Built Explorer tool https://www.compulsivecode.com/Project_AsBuiltCompare.aspx to compare multiple .abt files but no success so far in downloading two .ab files to compare. Can someone school me on the download/compare process?

Sure. Goto https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

Enter the vin and the code.

You get a screen with a button to push to download the AB file.. AB files have everything so 150KB and up. Print the screen to a PDF so you can always quickly search for a value to check on something.. faster than AsBuilt Compare.

You can also use some of the AsBuilt Compare tabs to load ABs for a list of VINS.. Get VINs from Dealer websites... with the trims and options you are trying to examine.

I have downloaded the .ab files for my truck and a similar one with a few options I don’t have. I can manually compare the pdf’s but was interested in utilizing the as-built explorer tool. I am also interested in comparing my original .ab to future ones for my truck to see if forscan changes I have made are updated on the motorcraft site. Plus it would be good do the comparison to see if Ford has made any changes from the original as-built.
The compare as-built tab works great on .abt files but does not load the .ab ones I downloaded. Figured I need to be using the deducer-get data tab and other deducer tabs. But so far I have not been able to get the downloaded files loaded for comparison. Or maybe this tool won’t really compare the files the way I want???

I misunderstood your question. Sorry.

Fire up As-Built Compare.
Goto tab Compare As-Built.
Click browse button on line for File #1. Find your truck AB file, select and click open.
Click browse button on line for File #2. Find AB file for other VIN, select and click open.
Push Load button. Wait a while. You will see each address ascending and differences highlighted when the addresses don't match. There may be 1 or more bits changed.

To compare Ford mothership to Forscan backups just switch file 2 to the backup of interest.

I have not had any trouble loading the AB files I downloaded... Just did 2 more VINs today.

Resolved! Well I unchecked the show modules box and selected the two .abt files, then loaded the files and it works! It just takes several minutes. Patience is the key.
