FYI: Ford Discontinuing the Ford Assistant Facebook Messenger Feature

I got this message from the Ford Assistant Facebook Messenger:

Hello, I am writing to inform you that on November 30th, 2023, Ford will discontinue the Facebook Messenger chat channel. You will no longer be able to issue vehicle commands such as remote lock or start from the Facebook Messenger chat. Instead, you can use your FordPass mobile app to remote lock or start your vehicle.

On November 30, 2023, I will automatically unlink your Ford account from your Facebook account. After November 30, 2023, you can still view your message history on Facebook Messenger, but you will not be able to send new messages or commands.

For information about your vehicle's capability, use your in-vehicle SYNC 4 voice assistant or your Owner's Manual.

If you have any questions about the discontinuance of the Facebook Messenger chat channel, please contact a Ford Guide/Lincoln Concierge.

I assume Ford is doing some cost cutting. Shame to see another feature go. I didn't used it all the time but did use it from time to time. It was nice to be able to check some things on a whim when I was perusing Facebook.

The Ford Assistant Facebook Messenger Integration is a bot that works as a separate contact in your Facebook Messenger app. This bot can answer questions about the status of your vehicle and common frequently asked questions (FAQs) about your vehicle itself.

Below are some examples of what you can say and or ask Ford Assistant in Facebook Messenger:

• Start my Edge or Mustang Mach-E.
• What is the orange light on my dashboard?
• Call Roadside Assistance.
• Where am I parked?
• Where is my key?
• What is my fuel level?

I didn’t even know about this or that this was even a thing. Maybe Ford was correct in their decision. Then again, my FB logins are few and far between.
