Recently had the gas door cover fall off my '24 PowerBoost. No big deal, the door still seals the tank and water can't get in, it's strictly cosmetic. I looked for a replacement, none to be had. Ford sells the filler seal, bracket, hinge, door and cover as one assembly. Price was about $250 plus paint and labor rather than replace the simple flat plastic cover that goes over the door. It's under warranty, so no skin off my nose, but seems a silly way to do business. Guess that's trivial compared to $1,500 headlights, but still, what a funny business model.

Buying more stuff for this truck
I had the same, The truck colored cover that slides onto the hinged door flew off my truck when I poped the fuel door using the dash button. It was the second refuel I did on the truck.
I went to the dealer and they told me there is a black plastic clip that holds the cover on. It was broken and they would not cover it. They said they could not prove that i hadn't caused the damage.
I made my own clip setup to fix it.
What a piece of crap.

Interesting, it first came off on mine when I popped the fuel door too, also shortly after I got the truck. I slid it back on, thinking that was a silly way to do things, that new engineers had to start somewhere, and forgot about it until it showed up missing a year later. No nonsense about proving anything from the dealer. They're covering it under warranty.

There are so many wonderful things about the Powerboost that it's especially startling to run across foolishness like this, and that repair out of warranty would cost about $250 parts plus labor for a roughly 6"x8" flat piece of plastic.

Guess I shouldn't bitch, that's pocket change compared to a $1,500 headlight. At those prices I'd expect to see Volvo on the nameplate.

I've now had 2 followup calls from the dealer letting me know first the part came in, and then that they're waiting for it to come back from being painted. With all the horror stories about dealer service backed up forever, I'm beginning to think I've got one that cares about customer service.
