This morning on my commute as soon as I got into the truck I got warning messages on my display dash that says “Fuel Door Ajar Close Fully to Avoid “Check Engine” Light.
Well the door was closed but upon my inspection of it, I found that the locking pin is gone. I contacted my closest dealership and they informed me that I will need the entire Fuel Housing for $75. The truck is still under the Bumper to Bumper 36k Warranty however they can’t touch the truck until late February which will put me out of the Warranty period.
Any of you have issues with this little pin coming out and growing wings and flying away? From the looks of it, the pin connects to a quick disconnect circular adapter. I’m guessing the small circular adapter came loose, and the pin went with it where it may be at this point. You can see in this picture where the small circular adapter goes into this base for the door and has a 1/4 turn to lock it into place.
Anyone know how I can get the dealership to honor the warranty due to how far their “1st available appointment” is since the problem happened under the 36k mile mark?
