Does anyone know why the Ford lowering kit says it will not fit the Powerboost? It's only drops it 1.3 in the front and 2.5 in rear. I don't want a huge drop an the price is right with the black friday sale going on now

When I lifted the front to level I had to use the version for the 15-20 because of the spring rates. Powerboost needs a heavier front that the rest of the models and the standard lifts have the lighter weight, 450lb vs 550 which closer matches the oem spring rate of like 556 or something. I would imagine the lowering kits have the same issue.

Thanks. I should have known that. It says 625 rate so if that's the only reason it probably would work ok correct? I ordered one. It was only $514 shipped.

If it’s optimized for the lighter trucks I wouldn’t automatically assume that. Being lower it should probably be stiffer to start out. Geometry wise you should be fine but I’m not sure what you would want the spring rates to be with it lowered so you are not sagging to low.

Any idea how much difference in weight there is? I wouldn't think much more than the 5.0. If it sits a little lower that would be ok as long as it drives good and doesn't bottom out. Thanks for helping my brain engage. I've always gone up not down. Trying to make it easier for my 87 year old mother and the other half get in and out without lowering the steps.

Similar boat with wife and I’s parents (and us) and I was surprised at the increased accessibility in the rear with the simple drop-shackles I put on ours. The shackles combined with the factory running boards make it very easy to get in. Not much change up front but it sure hinged the rear access down.

I have some superduty brackets but I don't like that much of a gap between the steps and the body.

If we are only comparing 145" SuperCrew F150s, the base curb weights are as follows:

2.7EB RWD: 2716lbs front, 1902lbs rear
3.5EB RWD: 2717lbs front, 2029lbs rear
5.0 RWD: 2748lbs front, 1913lbs rear
3.5PB RWD: 3058lbs front, 2202lbs rear

2.7EB 4WD: 2937lbs front, 1994lbs rear
3.5EB 4WD: 2944lbs front, 2004lbs rear
5.0 4WD: 2976lbs front, 1936lbs rear
3.5PB 4WD: 3253lbs front, 2264lbs rear

Options and trim level will add weight to these numbers.

About 300lbs, might sit a little more than the 1.3 inches lower. Might have to look at some stiffer springs. Don't want more than 2 inches lower in the front than it is now

Did you install the Ford lowering kit? What do you think of the ride quality? I've read of some Powerboost owners getting some vibration from the lowering shackles.

Have not had it installed yet. Don't know if I want to give up the clearance. Wife has been using a folding step with a cord tied to it. Keeps her happy for now. Kind of waiting for someone else to take the leap too.

Haha!

The Ford kit is the right price and about as much drop as I'd like. I don't want aesthetics, just better access to my roof racks on top of my cap. AND I don't want to sacrifice too much ground clearance... Who else can we find to give it a try and report back?

Anybody have pics of the ford kit installed on their 4wd f150? For a few reasons I’m going to do the whole FP700S kit but the suspension kit included might not be dramatic enough. A legit 2/4 would be perfect.

I put Ford's lowering shackles on my Powerboost. This isn't the lowering kit, but I quite like the result. It's subtle.
