We purchased a new 2024 F-150 STX 5.0L RWD (first Ford pickup) last June for towing several different trailers including a travel trailer. After completing 1,000 miles decided to tow a 4900 pound (empty water tanks) travel trailer today. Also had a local Ford dealer install a trailer brake controller and Ford Performance rear differential cover, I wanted a drain plug. I installed Timbren rear differential SES kit, Diamondback bed cover, mud flaps and side steps.

Really like towing with the F-150, Coyote engine has plenty of power and truck is stable in NC hilly terrain. The MPG surprised me getting 15MPG towing the trailer home using cruise control on 4 lanes in tow/haul mode in 8th gear @ 55MPH and 1900RPM. I was worried about the transmission staying cool, but once on the 4 lane at 1900 RPM the transmission fluid temperature dropped below 200F.

Another big plus for the F-150 is the payload capacity of 1924lbs. This pickup weighs in (CAT Scales) at 5500lbs with two people on board, normal camping gear in bed and full fuel. This pickup's GVW is 6850 pounds. The travel trailer's tongue weight is 480 pounds and for camping we add 200 pounds in the back seat/storage area still leaving over 600 pounds of excess load capacity! Next trip will include a stop at the CAT scales to verify complete rig/axle weights.

Really like this Truck! :)

Our previous tow vehicles for the same travel trailer had been a 2016 5.7L (V-8) SR5 Tundra 4X4 and 2022 3.4L TT V-6 SR5 Tundra RWD. We still have a base 2003 2.4L Tacoma with manual transmission and over 210,000 miles we purchased new. The V-8 Tundra was a nice tow vehicle, but poor fuel economy. The 3.4L twin turbo Tundra was a nice fuel efficient tow vehicle, but I personally wanted to move back to a normally aspirated V-8. Really like the Coyote power, like it so much hoping to buy a Coyote powered F-150 XL next year for local driving & towing three other small trailers to replace the Tacoma..

Thanks,

Weighed the F-150/camper rig today with empty camper water tanks, full TV fuel tank, two people, and most camping gear loaded. Camper comes in under 5,000 pounds with tongue weight under 500 pounds. Been pro-active keeping camper weight low.

Really impressed with the F-150's weight capacities and how the F-150 handles this camper.

F-150 with camper attached TV weighs 6060 pounds and combined rig weight of 10,500 pounds.

F-150 maximum weight capacities:
GVWR F-150: 6850 pounds
GAWR front axle: 3300 pounds
GAWR rear axle: 3800 pounds
GCWR Combined weigh: 15,700 pounds
Maximum payload: 1924 pounds
Maximum trailer weight: 10,400 pounds
