Could someone point me to an explanation for the digital instrument cluster? I have the paper manual and can't find it there, I must not be using the right keyword.

I don't understand the way the speedo and tach change sizes, sometimes they're about 2/3 of normal size. It might be related to what mode I'm using at the time, but so far I haven't figured it out. Another thing that confuses me is the different marks along the edge of the speedometer which also seem to change from time to time, sometimes they're wider and sometimes they're narrower and I swear sometimes they move.

Does everybody understand it but me?! ?

I can answer one of your questions based on my own investigation…. The change in size is based on making room in the middle for navigation. When driving with nav either through Car Play or the Sync Nav there will be ”next turn” information in the center which requires the 4 top gauges to move to take up space over the Tach and Speedo. Thus, the Tach and Speedo need to be smaller to make room.

I’m not sure I follow the question about the marks. I haven’t noticed that on mine and haven’t investigated. But, now that you have brought it to my attention, my OCD will kick in and will be the only thing I notice.

I have noticed that depending on drive mode, the tach and speedo increment marks are different sizes and shapes, on top of the color. I love the sport and rock crawl gauges.

And @ryan79260is right about the nav changes, same experience for me.

Confirming... the use of Navigation changes the size of the speedometer and Tach and makes them smaller as described above...

Going to the Off-road screen on the center view will also make the tach and speedo smaller.

I’m not positive until I verify, but I think the tick marks on the speedo will show what you have your cruise set to and also speed limits based on the speed limit sign recognition.

I wish I could have the sport gauges all the time just based on the color.

Thanks, I think the gauge sizes are affected by the nav system. Sometimes I have the factory nav on just to show my surroundings on the screen without a destination in mind and that's probably when I notice the gauge size. I'll pay attention.
