I just received this response to my question about status of my truck from Ford rep via my dealer:
"Here is the current status of the F-150 order mentioned below. It is on hold at the plant due to the microchip. I would not recommend the customer placing another order, as Ford is prioritizing retail orders to be released ASAP. Also the F-150 plant is down this week and next week, therefore the status probably won’t change until it is running again."

They better be sending 2022 models if people really have to wait until October!

I'm hoping:
1) Ford shut down the Dearborn assembly line and diverted the chips to the parking lot trucks so that missing modules could be installed
...and...
2) The Oct 31 date is a "will not exceed" date (unlike ANY of the prior delivery ETA's the Ford tracker has provided) and is just a place-holder until the REAL date is figured out...which will be a date much sooner.
Welcome to my fantasy.

It does appear they've begun working through the trucks in the holding lots. Several people who were built and stuck "In Production" forever have since had their ETAs jump way up from the 10/31 date to something more recent and progressed to the "Built" stage, so that is definitely a good sign. Just need to cross your fingers they get through all of them soon I guess.
