Carplay taking over dash!! iOS 16

Came across this article regarding changes in Carplay iOS 16 and possibility of it taking over the instrument panel. Ford listed as a partner with claims to be available late 2023. Will we see this come to gen14 trucks? I kinda like it.

The demo they have in that link makes it look like the whole damn dash is one big screen. I wonder if our 12" digital gauge clusters in lariat 501a and above will be able to handle it as well!

I think the customization aspect of it would be very cool, especially if you can have the map as the background.

I do as well, and saw it when I watched the keynote of the developers conference (I'm a geek, ha), but I would be very surprised if that will be the case for our 14 gens. When they first announced CarPlay Apple listed the companies, one being Toyota that would be supporting it, that was 2014, my wife's Sienna 2018 has up, but it was an after we bought it upgrade, 2019 was the first year they included it. All that to say, we can hope, but I'm not holding my breath. ha!

Most likely will be part of Sync 5, just not happening with the current dash unit and its networking behind the scenes.

By the looks of it, it’ll be on new cars/trucks that are being manufactured in 2023. I don’t believe it will be a simple “update” to make it work on earlier models with the digital dash, like in my 502a.
