I have a 2021 3.5 eco. I run a JB4 without any mods to the fuel system. Ford says that e15 is the highest octane recommended. Does anyone run e30? Any issues? JB4 has maps for e30+ but wanted to see what ya'll have info on or experience with. Thanks.

E15 restriction is relative to the factory calibration.
Although there's some "headroom" in that calibration according to a couple of tuners who know the Ecoboost very well.

In other words, if you mixed a little too much E85 with your 93-E10, and ended up closer to E19 or E20, the factory calibration could still manage the combustion chamber just fine. Although the timing tables and OAR would be maxed out and you wouldn't be leveraging additional power from the extra potential.

Perhaps the JB4 would be able to do just that? I honestly don't know. But if I had to guess, the JB4 can't extend the timing tables beyond max values, like a custom calibration can?
But the JB4 probably can advance the maximum advance and/or boost earlier in the RPM range than the "unspoofed" calibration would?

Custom tune or will a jb4 work?
I would not trust the JB4 with E-anything, get a custom tune (Goosetune) you will make much more power that way! Custom tune the tuners can see every little thing the engine is doing

The JB4 is a good tool if used properly. Very safe, but limited in comparison to a flashed pcm.

And it has the advantage of zero footprint. Stealthy.

For a modest bump in performance, it's a viable approach. I'm just disappointed that it's an OBD hog and thus I can't monitor the PIDs I would want to monitor if I were to use it.
With any method of "tuning", I have to be able to monitor what's going on in the combustion chamber. It's a peace of mind thing.

True JB4 is not a bad product for mild performance gains, but Pro tune is where the $$$ is....

I ran a JB4 on my Infiniti Q50 Red Sport and didn’t have any issues. Supposedly, it’s safe-ish, even with an ecu flash.

Zero desire now, as I have enough power with the livernois tune.

Just get a obd2 splitter. I have one so that my scangauge can always be plugged in and I still have one available when I use FDRS or whatever. The splitter even fits into the factory spot.

Not supported, according to JB4.
It (JB4) requires unimpeeded (fast) data. When you split the OBD with another device, you can clearly see the lag introduced by the competing device. (OBDlink, in my case)

I asked them about the obvious lag and was told that they don't support their device sharing bandwidth.

Ahh. I’ve not experienced that but the scangauge is not demanding.
