So this is a $750 upgrade from the 2.4kw to the 7.2kw. But, I can't kind if it's as simple as adding a cable, or if it requires a new battery/inverter, different cables running through the entire truck... I'm considering buying a stocked truck with everything I want but the 7.2...

Thanks

Massive upgrade, wait till you find one with the 7.2.

You have to question the true cost of the upgrade, may be well more than $750. Mfr’s are notorious for subsidizing options/trims to garner wider customer adoption so they create more user demand in the out-years. Ex: current C8 Corvette is barely profitable, but GM made it a bargain to ‘stoke the fire’ given such a radical redesign.
Good chance that it costs Ford (or you) way more than $750 for the upgrade.

I would love to be wrong, but no, not an easy upgrade.

I figured. I put in a build order, no VIN yet. The truck I'm going to pull the trigger has everything I want but the 7.2 and the work area arm rest (don't really care about that). With the 0% 72 months, I'm just gonna do it...

If I were to do it again, I'd hold out on the 7.2. That being said, the 2.4 is no slouch. One user here proved it can power his 13500 BTU A/C on his RV when a soft starter for the AC was installed. That's all the power I really envisioned needing, and it's been great for me for tailgating...will power a TV and accessories.

As far as upgrading, there's been no word on really how to do so. Most people who understand the architecture of the truck have stated that it's likely no small upgrade if done so after manufacturing. When it comes to that kind of power, unless something official and/or proven comes out, I don't think it's wise to jack with it. I don't think anyone wants their truck to burst into flame...

I was in the same boat and bought the 2.4kw version off the lot. Depends on your use case... I have no RV and work a white collar job, what am I going to do with 7.2kw's of power.

2.4kw will still run 2 fridges, lights, and charge phones in a power outage. All that I need. My heat pump is 60A, so even the 7.2kw couldn't cool or heat my house anyway.

I'm a "full-timer" in the RV world and am currently in the path of some threatening hurricane weather.

I've already used the 7.2KW magic on a few power outages and am ready for the next.

This truck is everything as advertised and much more. I love the confidence it brings this old man that it'll keep the lights on. :)
