I have a 22 401A with incandescent taillights with bliss. I have a Putco red tailgate led badge I have installed and want to hook it up to the brake light and not the running light. Can anyone tell me which wire on which connector would I hook into? Your help is greatly appreciated. I tried to post a pic of the wiring, but it's not uploading.

there is a wire under the hood by the air filter box that you can use ..its for the high center stop light for a topper and it will not trick truck into thinking you have a trailer hooked up if you use it

if you tap the rear light assembly or trailer connector it may trick truck into thinking you have a trailer hooked up

And yes that's a dead moth and my engine is horribly dusty

Also this wire is only live with br a ke pedal pressed if engine is on, or running

Looks like an upfitter switch wire. I don't wanna run the wiring all the way up from the back thought. It recommends tapping into the parking light but I want to do the brake light instead.

yes its the uppfitter for a topper brake light
running wire through the frame is really easy, takes a bit of finesse
last time i ran wires through the frame, i ran several extras in the bunch for future needs
but i see your point

i would test first to make sure truck does not think a trailer is connected, this affects BLIS etc if it does

I have found that exact wire but can't get it to work so far. Originally I was trying without the truck running, but when I read this, I left it running and still my test light does not light up when I press the brake pedal.

i had a similar problem, use a light and make sure you ground it
the system is weird.
i tried using a volt meter and it would work, but a test light no joy
