Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the new tailgate has tie-downs on the actual tailgate so maybe it would make the bed extender a bit redundant?

I also just had a thought about when stowed on the side it could get in the way of the plugs in the bed. It makes a good place to place groceries and stuff when folded inside. If they decide not to include it may have to find something to stop things from sliding up.

I have the folding bed extender and wonder the same things. I know it will definitely block the plugs when folded to the sides, which is fine, just have to work around it. The other issue is the little peg on the left on that when in the extended position (tailgate down) does not have a corresponding hole on the work surface tailgate. So it makes me wonder if they are designing a new one and it isn't ready.
I haven't decided yet whether I want to just throw my extender in when I sell my truck or take it off and try it on my new one before selling separately.

My Lariat is on order via Canada. Bed Extender is on the end of the list as a "shipped separately from the vehicle" option. As mentioned elsewhere they work well turned inwards to keep shopping etc from rolling around the whole of the bed. Which is why I have gone for one.
