I was driving in 4A today (we've had snow for over a week) and this popped on my screen and my Ford App.
Is this really a thing to worry about? Nothing appeared to happen and the truck continued to drive with no issues.
Anyone else seen this before?

I get this at startup every once in a while. Seems to only happen when the truck has sat or it's really cold. It always 'corrects' itself/goes away after a restart or next time I start the truck. I suspect it's ties to my battery voltage dipping too low for the powertrain module. I'm planning on ditching my factory battery and upsizing to the H7 or H8 size battery to hopefully alleviate any of these electronic gremlins.

Basically I ignore this kind of stuff with modern vehicles unless it never goes away, or there is a real physical sysmptom. Otherwise you're likely chasing just poor electronics integration.

ie. Battery voltage too low during cranking causing modules to not startup, or modules starting up slower than the master or next module is expecting so they throw codes and garbage.

Hmm well I just bought a new battery (H7 Max for my Platinum PB) a couple of months ago and my truck is parked in my 50° shop every night?

I have seen "gremlins" though. Recently I received a notice my BCruise expired and then a few minutes later it "welcomed" me to my extended trial of BCruise ...
I checked my SoC and it seems to be pretty good... Who knows ...
Tech....

Ew, well that's discouraging...I was hoping a bigger battery was going to help..maybe not.

If you're still in the bumper to bumper warranty wouldn't hurt to have the dealer look at it. But my guess is without an active code, they won't do anything....

If you're a DYI person, maybe crawl under there and just take look at any sensor connections to the transfer case just to see if you can find something coming loose, or looking 'off'.

Last time I got the 4x4 powertrain fault, I was leaving work, so I just left it in that state and when I got home plugged in my scan tool, but the scan tool wanted to only be in 'key on/engine off' mode, and of course as soon as I shut the truck off and turned the ignition back on, no codes for anything...
