Just to update everyone again. Took it to the dealership and they replied with the proverbial: “Couldn’t duplicate the problem”. I’m going to start troubleshooting on my own. I’m going to start with disconnecting the sway bar end links and see if the clunk is still there.

Here is a link to another thread with a similar symptom that was resolved. This was on a raptor, but I believe the lower shaft would be the same for our trucks.

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...teering-wheel-thumping-tapping-feeling.22346/

EDIT: The part number for the raptor is RL3Z-3B676-A and the part number for the regular F150 is ML3Z-3B676-A. I am not sure if there is cross compatibility. The RL3Z-3B676-A has a boot around it for shielding the shaft from heat (likely part of the culprit of the clunking).

Thanks for sharing this. I checked and mine doesn’t seem to have much “play” or movement or noise when pushing/pulling on it. Everything seems tight.

I did order a new sway bar end link to replace on my drivers side since I hear my clunking most pronounced when hitting bumps on drivers side. Once I replace it, I’ll follow up with results.

Next step will be taking back to Offroad shop to have them check tightness of everything.

Man id love to get to the bottom of this as well... Mine truly feels like something is loose in the steering shaft still. low speed bumps under 30MPH feel like someone Is tapping the steering column with a tiny hammer.

I’m right there with you. It bothers me a lot. I did just replace my drivers side sway bar end link. It didn’t fix the clunk. Not sure what to do next. I feel like it’s either a bad strut and or strut mount, or it’s something related to the EPAS system. I’m toying with the idea of just replacing drivers side strut with new OEM to see if it fixes it. Hate throwing money at it. Especially when this is something Ford should warranty and replace. Also contemplating taking it back to dealer, making them drive it with me, and try to find section of road that will replicate it.

Mine does it every time on a gravel road. Need to find one as close to dealership as possible. Just can’t think of one that’s close.

I keep hoping someone else will solve it for us!! Or that someone will see this thread and help us all. Maybe we can start a “go fund me” for figuring this out, lol.

Out of curiosity, where are you located?

Believe I have resolved this!
Not sure if you guys got this fixed but I had a similar problem
I have a 2021 f150 platinum import I am in the uk so no dealers to contact regarding this
The truck only has 600miles on it
And I was getting a light clunk/knock through the feel of the steering wheel when bumping up Kurbs and going over light bumps
With the truck turned off and steering lock on, I felt along the steering column up behind the dash trim and where the first 1/2” joint is there is a 10mm nut that needed tightening I could feel play on the 1/2” joint and now the play is gone i have tried it up and down bumps and all seems good!

Yes, thanks for the information and possible solution, but mine was completely tight also.

By the way, for everyone else that hasn’t figured this out, I’m 90% sure it’s my driver’s side strut that is my issue.

I haven’t yet. But it’s on my list. Just haven’t gotten around to having it done.

Man I really want to find a way to fix this, driving under 40mph 75% of the time I hit small bumps it feels like someone is tapping on the steering wheel.

Would pay someone a finder's fee if they can figure it out!
