Anyone get a RTT (Roof Top Tent) through Ford?

Hi,

Did anyone order the Yakima or Tepui RTT from Ford with their new truck? I am planning on buying the Yakima OverHaul HD rack and side support bars anyway but wondering if it would be worth it to add the RTT as well.

If you've got one, do you like it?

I did not as I had my smitty built already. On my 2009, I had two separate Yakima racks and hated them both. They had the tendency to rock around corners or over bumps and I ended up using tie downs to keep it stable. On my 2021, I bought the R RCI rack has been awesome with no complaints. Now if someone finds one that connects to box link so you don’t destroy your plastic bedrail covers. I would be an even happier camper.

Thanks for the follow up. I like the adjustability of the Yakima rack because I'd like to be able to put a tent or cargo box on the rack and fit bikes underneath. I'm open to suggestions though. ?

I did the same. Bought the Yakima because it was the only rack I could fit a dirtbike under. It was so hard to adjust that I found myself leaving it all the way up all the time just to avoid the frustrations of adjusting. For the same price, you can get the 18” RCI, have it be stable and avoid The frustrations. Plus, when your wife takes your car through a Starbucks, you don’t have to work about their flexible shade ripping off your tent…

I ordered my Tremor with the Yakima OverHaul HD and the Yakima SkyRise tent directly through Ford. Everything was dealer-installed before delivery. Honestly, it’s a decent setup for weekends, but I wouldn’t call it the best value. There are better 4x4 rooftop tents out there for the money if you're willing to do a little DIY mounting. But the convenience of having it all ready when I picked up the truck was nice.
