Hey guys, I was perusing through the interweb earlier and came across this video review. I’ll have to admit, the thumbnail stock image of a 21’ F-150 lighting up the rear tires did draw me in! ? ?

The guys at American Trucks got an F-150 XLT and gave a pretty decent review of it. The truck they used was equipped with the 5.0 V8 engine.

One correction I must make. The host cites the eight inch instrument cluster as the base screen for the F-150 lineup. That is not the case. Ford uses a 4” screen as the base, the 8” on mid level trucks, and the full LED 12” screen on Lariat and above.

For all of you F-150 faithful, he unfortunately is another source that does confirm the use of cylinder deactivation on the 5.0 V8 engine.

At around the 14:40 they hook that V8 up to a Dyno and run a performance test. The results showed the truck producing 339 horsepower and 352 lb ft of torque. Keep in mind this is power at the wheels and not accounting for drivetrain loss.

When he cites the 8" screen as the base offering he is referring to the Sync 4 infotainment screen. Also the 12" screen is standard on XLT 302a and above.

Could be. When he was mentioning it, the video showed a B-roll of him using the instrument cluster which is why I thought that.
