I dont have any pics unfortunately. This isn't really a ride so say. Just wanting to share this because it's a story I like to tell. My dad had an 86 gmc rcsb truck and put a built 327 in it. He loved that truck and when I'd gotten my license so did I. I got my first ticket a week after getting license in it. Lol.
The story that still to this day makes me smile was the evening he dropped me off with a buddy and when he left in it he laid into it. All me and my buddy could hear was the 327 hollering and the tires roasting even after we couldn't even see the truck anymore. He didn't always drive like that but when we were riding together and he'd open it up to have a little fun I'd look over at him and he and I had huge smiles on our faces.

I'm sure this isn't the type stories your wanting and not really expecting any likes. Lol. But I wanted to share this because I drive my 23 suoercrew short bed 5.0 like this sometimes and I think of that story. O yeah and when my boy is with me I see the same smile on his face as I had with my dad.

I dont want to enter any contests, but I do want to share a memory about my Dad...
When I was a kid in Danville, CA my Dad drove me EVERYwhere in our Springtime Yellow, '66 Mustang. At 7 or 8yrs old my Dad "taught me how to drive". He would hold his coffee cup in his right hand and tell me when he pressed the clutch to move the floor shifter into gear. Of course there was grinding here and there, but that became 'our thing'.
Years later, (I was 13yrs old) I took the car for a joyride and he came home early from work to find the Mustang missing. Cops were called, and it seemed every cop car in our little town of Gig Harbor, WA was in front of our house. I rolled up and walked in the front door and among the many questions, 'where were you', 'who took the car', 'where did you go?' the one that jumped out was my Dad yelling, "When did you learn to drive????" I just stammered, 'When I was seven years old, with you.'
My Dad went to see Jesus in 2015 and it's this holiday that makes it hard to enjoy being a Dad to my kids, cuz I miss him.

To those that still have their Dad, go call him, see him in person and tell him thanks and you love him. If there is any friction in a relationship, let it go. He loves you as much as you love your kids. Sometimes generational stubbornness gets in the way... but let it go, be the better person and just tell him you love him.

Fantastic thread idea, I'll bite. I come from a fine family of Ford fanatics. Earliest truck memory is from the 80's riding in the back camper shell with 3 sisters, mom and dad in the cab of his '68 green F100 headed to Mammoth, CA for camping (sadly, no pictures). When that truck was stolen from the driveway, dad took the day off work and had to start driving grandpa's '69 Ranger, 3-on-the-tree Borg Warner, 390 c.i. Best memory of that truck was seeking a conversation on the Cobra CB radio or tuning in KROQ 106.7 FM. Fast forward to today, now my 2 daughters are making core memories of their own in our '22. Dad passed when i was 24, but father-in-law, owner of the 2011 pictured, does a great job of keeping the Ford family values. It's so much fun feeling like I'm part of something bigger than me. I feel like a conservator, I can't wait for one of my nephews (or nieces) to show interest and take ownership of the ol' red. Funny how you just know when your doing things just right, like cruising with the windows down, wind wings open, putting it into 3rd gear, letting off the throttle just enough for the trans to 'kick down' into O.D.

Dad's always been a, "car guy". He was building and racing cars and motorcycles before he joined the Service. Then over the course of a military career, he (and then, we) spent nearly 70% of it overseas.

It didn't matter where we were, stateside, Europe, or Asia, Dad collected a group of other GI-gearheads and opened a garage to, "help take care of the junior Enlisted." He also found the, "good roads" and local racing.

My brother and I had the good fortune of growing up in garages, junkyards, and racetracks all over the world. When we each were in High School, it was our house our buddies would congregate at because Dad would teach us how to make the cars go faster.

I followed Dad's footsteps and pursued a military career of my own. While at my first duty station, my Brother graduated High School and eventually moved out. Soon after, my folks moved to San Antonio. It was there, for the first time in seven years, the entire family was together for Christmas. - Which is where we come to my favorite "drive" with Dad.

The Saturday before Christmas, Mom, my wife, and my daughters were out shopping. Dad, my Brother, and I were at the San Antonio Dragstrip, each of us at the helm, turning low 13s in the 88 Mustang notchback Dad and my Brother built.

Dad's still with us. In his Eighties, he's a little slower than he used to be. But that doesn't stop him from taking the GT500KR out, finding a track, and converting liquified dinosaurs into adrenaline, one quick shift after another...

Happy Father's Day, Dad. I owe you a lot.
