Hey all! I'm looking to see if anyone has done a power tailgate removal on a 2024 F-150 Lariat yet (I'm sure 2021-2023 is the same)?

Long story short, a friend just bought a new 2024 F-150 Lariat over the weekend and wants to drill the a few small holes for mounting points for an aftermarket lighting. After work today, we did put the power tailgate in manual mode, did the necessary harness unplug procedures, removed the set screw and yet we can't figure out how to remove the power tailgate on the left side. The right side came out without issues but the left side doesn't seem to want to slide out.

Didn't have this issue removing my power tailgate on my 2022 Lariat, so I can't figure it out on his 2024--thought I'd ask through here.

Any help is appreciated as we'll be attempting this again tomorrow since I have a day off.

Figured it out for those who want to remove the tailgate on their 24+ (2021-23 includes too). Once you get the right out of the notch--push the tailgate up again as if its almost closing and then pull the left side to the right, and it'll come out. This is because of the black support in the middle of the tailgate that's preventing it from sliding out any other way.

--Definitely a 2-person job, that tailgate with step is heavy.
