Hello! Long time lurker first time poster.
I am seeking advice with my audio upgrade on my 2024 PB XLT, non-B&O. I have spent hour searching forums, Reddit, Facebook, google and am now seeking your expertise.
Background: I am installing a Kicker Key 200.4 DSP amp, which will drive the interior speakers. I am not buying a plug and play harness, instead making my own splices. (Question 1)
I have a JL 8inch powered sub that will be going under the rear bench seat. (Question 2).
I am grounding to the factory ground behind the rear bench ( I know- bad practice, but I measured the resistance to be less than 0.5ohms to the negative battery post)
question 1: speaker wire colors- I am planning splicing the line level out from the ACM that is in stock form powering the speakers. Using speed wire sending line level to the kicker key 200.4 dsp/amp. I will use speed wire out of the dsp/amp back to the stock speaker wires near the ACM. This will allow me to utilize the already installed speaker wires to the speakers. The issue I am having is. 1) there are 2 plugs on the ACM, grey and black. My research show I should splice into the black plug. BUT the wire colors for the speakers do not match the wiring diagram I found (attached below). 2) What are the wires coming from the grey plug? These match the colors of the speaker wires in the diagram.
question 2) I plan on sending line level (via a second splice) to the sub amp, before the DSP/amp. I have found conflicting info on whether or not I will need load resistors here.
any info you guys can help me with would be really helpful. Thanks!!
