I purchased a 2021 F-150 2.7 with 20k miles and now I am at 30k. Since day one, it makes a rattling noise coming from the 10r80 at cold startup. It makes noise after the truck has been sitting for more than an hour and I start it again. Noise goes away after about 3 minutes but at times it makes it while stop and go driving.
I’ve taken it to 2 different dealers and they argue that it is a whining noise typical from the transmission and that it does not affect operation or durability. I am okay with the whining noise but this is not a whining noise to me. Any advice on what to do? Does anyone have the same issue? The transmission shifts ok but it’s just the noise that has become annoying as I do a lot of short trips.
Also, the noise is not coming come the wastegates or any loose exhaust heat shields. I recently did a transmission fluid service at my local dealer but did not notice any improvements.
