This is the one the dealer told me was coming when I got my truck out for the recall driveshaft repair. Since it’s intermittent it will be hard to verify but I certainly will ask them to apply. By the way - they said tge reverse brake assist error message many of us got after taking tailgate off...
I asked the same on mine. The best I could gather is Ford is concerned about some kind of internal thermal damage to the driveshaft. On mine, there was discoloration but almost no reduction or grooving of the walls of the shaft. I am just speculating but makes sense when they are grounding...
I was going to pursue under lemon law had my vehicle been grounded for > 30 days due to lack of part. It took almost 60 days for driveshaft to come in but the dealership only grounded it the last 27 days of that time through an oversight. They admittedly should have grounded me from 12/27...
Called today to just find out status on parts - last I had heard was still 3/31/22 for my recall affected driveshaft. The part was actually in. They also had the rivets etc to fix the insulation, for me the driveshaft had been the holdup. Keep in mind it was originally ordered on 12/27/21 so...
Update - called today to just find out status on parts - last I had heard was still 3/31/22 for my recall affected driveshaft. The part was actually in. Keep in mind it was originally ordered on 12/27/21 so still took almost 60 days. Hopefully this means for all of the other folks impacted by...
Yes you just have to pray you have no or no significant driveshaft damage. If you do, like me, they ground your truck and let you know the driveshaft is backordered and likely not in till 3/31. I’m glad to see many folks are able to get the remediation without the driveshaft being hosed.
At this point want to cover bases. What if part doesn’t arrive till June. I’m not sure they have high confidence in 3/31 date. Sounds kind of arbitrary…. Keep in mind the reason I had in shop when grounded was that the truck trailer brake controller was not providing trailer brakes for 3 hr...
Yes thanks. Others have suggested and we have reached out to our attorney who gets back from vacation tomorrow. Definitely going to proceed with that in parallel.
I think some of the guidance to the dealers has been inconsistent or misunderstood. They let me drive for a month but when I went back in for other issue they said they said they should have grounded me at the end of December.
In no way do I ever I want to hurt Ford line workers. This is about mismanagement at the procurement and parts allocation level. Plus principles / take care of existing clients FIRST!!
Good luck. You will see in a thread i started I’ve been told 3/31 or later. And that truck not safe to drive till replaced. Obviously would think we all get same answer - one good thing about these forums is comparing notes.
It may be the degree of damage I suppose. Mine does look worse for sure . When the dealer says dangerous to drive, got my attention. I can see why if they fixed the insulation And yours is no more damaged than this you feel ok. Still for all of us what a hassle. The real lucky ones are the ones...
Yes I have inspection camera and also downloaded Ford documents from NHTSA site. My damage looks like examples hence “fail”. Shafts are matte finish - shiny is where scoring happened.
Thanks to both of you. I bought in TN and immediately transferred to KY and paid KY taxes and registration so that’s probably same as “bought in Ky”. Also have filed consumer complaint with Ky AG but this is probably more aggressive / better leverage to get the stupid part.
