I also similarly had a front diff housing explode in a '21 in slippery conditions. There's a thread on that here: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/cracked-front-diff-housing.8435/
Folks think there was a bad batch of housings in '21 likely due to supply chain issues. The design has...
I’ve had good luck with Centric rotors, which in many cases has performed better than OEM and are relatively inexpensive. There are premium and costed versions available. Given the conditions, I’d guess that coated would be preferred.
Noticed that I posted this on April 29. I took my truck in to be repaired in Early May and got it back on July 15. That's after having in for a week in early April for a "Diagnosis". After I took it back in, I got a call from the Service Advisor asking what I had done. The diff was full of...
I drive mine like it's stolen, change the oil when the ECU tells me to, and don't bother with turbo cooldown. 21k so far with no issues and nothing onerous in the oil analysis.
Doesn't hurt to baby the things, but my speculation is that with good oil, any full synthetic GF-5, but I run...
Status update: dealer is doing a warranty repair, but they’re way backed up, and asking me to leave my truck there, they can’t say when they’ll get started and when they do it’ll be 7-10 days because they don’t keep shims on hand and would need to order them.
I’ll take it in next week alonh...
There's another thread on this topic in which I've posted the same, but I've run oil analyses on all my oil changes so far including a TBN test on the last one to assess the remaining oil life relative to the ECU oil life monitor. In their words:
"TBN isn't fully depleted at 1.7, but it's...
On the second analysis I added the TBN test. It showed a correlation between the oil life monitor and the remaining life of the oil that I was using. That is to say I had a small buffer of oil life remaining when the oil life monitor showed 0%.
That’s just one data point, however. I had some...
My second analysis from January. Mostly looking to validate the oil life monitor in terms of service intervals. Over a thousand miles of towing on this sample. Fuel dilution is fine.
Hard to tell in the photo that I posted above, but it looks like the wall thickness where mine broke was well over .250" and looks like it was right through a pretty substantial flange.
Took it into the dealer today. In their words, "your front diff is dee-stroyed!". They'll fix it, but I'm...
