Happy to report that I am now on Sync version 22293 revision 610, which gave me full screen CarPlay. This was after a 5+ hour IPC update to unlock the this APIM update.
I recognize this isn’t the latest Sync version available but FDRS is showing no additional updates to run. Fine by me since at...
In case it helps others, two things I did different this time:
When formatting my USB, I unselected “quick format”
After it prompted “restart required”, I shut it off then disconnected the negative terminal of the battery and charged it to 100% before restarting. This took well over the...
I never saw update successful, BUT for the first time ever I now see a sync version (21146_Product) and revision (145). Hopefully this means I’m out of purgatory!
edit: I confirmed in FDRS that the update was successful. Auto-update is now turned on. APIM is no longer in the list of available...
Took the truck to run some errands and got USB error 0 again….while cursing at the screen, I noticed it said “system updating” in the background. I let it do its thing, and it prompted restart required. Weird.
Now I’m waiting 10+ minutes to restart, and crossing my fingers I’ll get the elusive...
With @rugedraw ’s guidance, I just downloaded the APIM update to a freshly formatted USB drive. Since I want to make the most of my two day FDRS license, and because I expect I will be waiting a while for the truck to recognize the USB and start the update, I am wondering if it is possible to...
So I bucked up and bought another FDRS 2-day subscription to attempt PMI on the APIM. After another long download, it asked for a USB drive. I downloaded the files, plugged into the truck and never received an update in progress. I assumed I was in the waiting game part of this, but as I backed...
No luck with a battery disconnect or master reset.
Do you think running PMI on the APIM would be helpful at all? I’m not sure I fully understand what PMI is, but it seems it’s along the lines of a reset.
So while waiting for the “update successful”, the truck prompted another “update in progress” with a restart required on my drive home today. I shut the truck off, opened the door, and let it sit for 10+ min before restarting. I let it idle in the driveway for 30+ min with no update successful...
the sync version is still blank. I did try a reset via holding the power button and forward button for 10 seconds. I have not tried a master reset yet.
I have an early build 2021 F150 that’s stuck on an old SYNC version with the version/revision fields showing blank. After being failed by my dealer and reading through the last ~100 pages of this thread, I decided to try fixing it myself with a Mongoose cable and an FDRS subscription. I’m now...
