I am all good now. Hubcentric rings and a new set of Cooper Discoverer ATP2 10ply tires and it drives like it's supposed to. Discount Tire really did do a good job taking care of it all things considered. Now I have two sets of wheels and tires to sell.
Discount called me Saturday and they have the hubcentric rings and 20" wheels they are wanting to try out. I guess I will be spending half the day down there tomorrow to see what happens. I really think if the rings don't fix it I am just going to ask for a refund and keep the factory wheels...
here is mine with a 6500lb trailer and the same hitch. My truck is reverse leveled and sat pretty level. I agree that your hitch height might be too high.
I have had several used WDH setups and not had any issues. I always go a bit bigger than I think I need. The only new one I have ever bought was a Fastway E2 and it was great. I personally would stay away from the chain style and stick to the friction style for sway control.
Right now I have...
I have updates. I bought a set of stock 20's with 275/65/20 Michelin 10ply tires off of marketplace today and slapped them on. Truck drives smooth as silk again. I guess I will going back to Discount Tire to get my money back for the set of 18's I bought.
This was my front right wheel, there was 36x .25oz weights on it.
This was the back left. I swapped them around and I can definitely feel the shake more in my seat than in the steering wheel now.
Discount Tire called Wheel Pros today while I was in there and said that the hubcentric rings shouldn't be needed but they ordered them anyway. They told me that they did road force balance it but I also noticed that the front right has weights double stacked on it and looks like there is 30x...
Sorry for the long read but I am trying to get some ideas on where to go from here.
I have a 24 Screw 4x4 with 9300 miles on it. I tow a travel trailer so I wanted to get some 10ply tires. This is where my problems started.
3500 miles - I bought a set of used 17" Ultra 17x9 +18 wheels with...
I have a 24 with the 3.5 and 3.55 gears and on wet pavement it spins the tires even on super light throttle. If I have to pull out in any traffic I really have to pedal it to get it to grab and go. I was pulling my 28ft camper home today from the lake in the rain and came to a stop light on a...
I see 2 versions of the RS9000 listed for my truck. One says it's for the Heavy Duty Payload package. Is that what the 7100# GVWR Package listed on my Monroney is?
I am needing to upgrade to a set of 10ply tires and these look like the best bang for the buck. I am looking at 285/60/20s. Any have any real world feedback on them.
I am glad I saw this thread. Here is my setup and it has a little more sway than I like in windy situations. I think my first upgrade needs to be to get rid of these junk SL tires and go with a 285/60/20 8 or 10 ply tire.
