I'm going to turn my focus to the front door speakers. I'm a little confused by other threads in here, are there any aftermarket 6x9s that bolt right in? Or do they all require a bracket? If so are the brackets specific to the speakers?
Prob looking at the kicker DS that everyone likes, or JL...
Yeah it wasn't the best job but I blame that in the shop teacher. We made with work though. I was worried the foam on the subs would rip apart the first time we cranked it up. Holding steady after a couple weeks.
4 years later i got my old JL 10s installed in a down firing box my son made in his high school wood shop. The sounds hit hard, reliving my youth of loud car audio systems!
If I have an android phone is there a way to find out if the dealer did the correct update for the recall? I assume the answer is no seeing as it was done last Wed (April 13).
I too am wondering this. Had the recall done (supposedly) successfully.l yesterday. Still shows in the Ford pass app.
How does a laymen like myself know if anything was actually done? I won't be hooking up my trailer for a couple weeks to test.
Thanks guys. My dealer service guy is saying that the update is available OTA. So I've confirmed my truck is connected to my WiFi and setup for automatic updates. Is there a way from the menus to confirm that this update has been applied?
JEB, is there a name or code for this software update? I'd like to quote that to my dealer to get it installed. I have had it in a couple times so it's been documented. Even had them do a full on diagnostic with Ford engineering
Had a nice chat with a guy from Transport Canada, he was very thorough. He said the more people that report this, the easier it is they have a case to be made for a recall. So Canadians on here, please call them or use the online defect reporting site!
He even had me scan and send him my...
What he said! Unless you travel completely dry, and you don't have 3 kids and a dog (like I do). Even then, my trailer 6200 lbs dry, 7600 lbs loaded (scaled) has a 1050 lb tongue. Add in the WDH, the 5 of us, some bikes and other junk in the bed and we are around 150lbs under the max paylod of...
Yep, I've let my Ford Canada rep who organized this diagnostic know. She if going to look into it further. We'll see I guess, I def am not interested in just sitting and waiting 5 months for a fix that likely won't do anything.
We'll some news. I took the truck in today for the diagnostic as directed by Ford (as per my interactions with the social media agent on this site). The service advisor told me that Ford has issued an SSM (see below)… and that I should wait until March. My concern is that the SSM states that the...
By the way, I contacted the used "Fodr Motor Company" on this forum. They are an official social media agent for Ford. Let them know about the problems. After exchanging contact info, I got a call from someone at Ford Engineering. They have now arranged for the truck to go into the dealer and do...
Glad that is working for you! I don't have the powerboost so that is not an issue for me. Come to think of it, I wonder if any of the 5.0L trucks have this problem?
Also, I've been pushing pretty firmly since someone mentioned that pages ago, but I'll admit I haven't heard a "click" I might...
Sorry this isn't mean to be snarky, but what would you do instead? Run with no brakes? Or wire in an aftermarket one? If it's the latter, my cursory read was that it wasn't possible (or at least easy) to do as Ford doesn't supply a pigtail under the dash that is wired through to the rear of the...
Put me in the camp that has had the brake control module replaced, and it made no difference. Nothing at all.
My latest update: went out for our last trip of the year, brakes worked in the driveway, stopped working 1 block away (cool temps by they way). Pulled over, fiddled, waited ~3 mins...
In Canada, it appears that Transport Canada is the place to lodge a complaint. I will be calling them tomorrow. I'd urge any other Canadians with the same problem to do the same. Likewise for you guys south of the border, seems like NHSTA is the place to go. Maybe we can make something happen!
Oh and when I say I think it's a "resistance issue", what I mean is that I think Ford has programmed the TBC with too tight a tolerance band for resistance, that represents whether a trailer is connected or not.
