This worked, once I was able to fully remove the retention clip, I was able to see how the ins were held in. I was able to work in a paperclip from the front and pull the wire out the back of the connector. Install is now finished. Thank you for the help!

If my memory serves me correctly, setting the “fog lamp usage” to “fog only” disabled the cornering lamp feature on my truck. I also have an xlt with the led reflectors and fog lights. It’s been almost a year since I did it.

Thanks, Amir! The splash guards are the oem Ford units I picked up at the dealership. The tailgate inserts were already on the truck when I took delivery so I don’t know where they came from. The inserts aren't just vinyl stickers, they are thin pieces of glossy plastic.
